Independence School District Partnering with Businesses...A Win-Win Situation

More and more businesses are thinking “out of the box” and partnering with their local school districts to reach an untapped marketing audience….students, teachers, staff, parents, and community members.  Such is the case in Independence.  Many local businesses are finding true value in partnering with Independence Local Schools.  From mentoring, providing speakers, internships, field trips or professional development to underwriting technology, events, publications and naming rights on facilities and grounds, there is a wide range of opportunities for businesses to give of their time, talent, energy and/or resources.

“The economic well-being and desirability of a community are tied to the quality of its public education.  Good education is good for business.  Business-school partnerships improve the residents’ perceptions of the positive impact of business and education in the local community,” says Superintendent Mr. David Laurenzi.

In addition to many of the retail and restaurants in the area, other businesses such as Liberty Lincoln Mercury, Emerald Group Credit Union, Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine, Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Farmers Insurance are all helping Independence Local Schools meet the growing challenges of preparing students to compete in a global workplace.

“It is critical that schools look at new ways to expand their resources and work together with businesses,” says Charlene Paparizos, the district’s business/community relations director.  “At the same time, schools open up a whole new audience for businesses wishing to gain public awareness as a business that cares about the quality of education in our community.  In addition, partnerships are a great morale booster for employees by showing them they have made a difference in a child’s life.  People like doing business with businesses that support the future of our society.”

If your organization/business is interested in pursuing a business/school partnership with Independence Local Schools, please call 216/642-1256.
