Cleveland Cavaliers majority owner Dan
Gilbert, Cleveland Clinic President and CEO Dr. Toby Cosgrove
and Cleveland Cavaliers General Manager Danny Ferry, officially
opened the reigning Eastern Conference Champion’s new
state-of-the-art player development facility, Cleveland Clinic
Courts, on September 19.
The $25 million complex, located in Independence on Brecksville
Road, provides a highly advanced training environment both on
the court and off. At 50,000 square feet, it is one of the most
technologically advanced team development centers in pro sports.
With the main courts area serving as the centerpiece, all other
areas of the facility, including the offices, are positioned
within view and easy access to the courts.
“The goal was to build a facility that will help our team
maximize opportunities to succeed. We’ll have a much stronger
individual player development program now, and at the same time,
we’ll have a much better full-team atmosphere as well.” said
Danny Ferry.
By incorporating Cleveland Clinic’s innovative techniques, the
CAVS have built one of the best NBA training facilities in the
country. Cleveland Clinic Courts offers the most
state-of-the-art equipment. Connecting the facility to the
Cleveland Clinic’s advanced electronic medical records database
will help team physicians make medical decisions more quickly.
Our collaboration will help promote injury prevention on the
court,” said Dr. Cosgrove.
The Cavaliers will officially report to training camp on October
1 to prepare for the 2007-08 NBA season.
